Born in New Zealand and of Fijian-Indian Heritage, Shama moved to Queensland in 2019 and has been enjoying exploring the Sunshine State ever since. With a love for baking and all things fashion, Shama brings creativity and a keen eye for detail to her work.
Before transitioning to the disability and community services sector, Shama spent nearly 10 years in the retail industry. While she enjoyed her time in retail, she always felt a calling to pursue a career where she could make a more meaningful impact. This led her to complete a Diploma in Case Management in Community Services, which she undertook while gaining valuable experience in the psychosocial sector over the past five years.
Her diverse experience has equipped her with a deep understanding of supporting individuals with unique needs and a strong commitment to achieving positive outcomes for clients. As a Participant Support Officer at Alya, Shama is dedicated to empowering participants and to providing compassionate, goal-focused support tailored to their individual journeys.
